A Pair of Derbyshire Inlaid and Black Marble Obelisks

ENGLAND, c. 1850

Both columns with “scrapwork” or “patchwork” specimen marble inlay, above inlaid floral splays in the base; the first representing pansies with Florentine marble and coloured shell, the other representing white jasmin with malachite and shell, on a stepped plinth bases of polished Derbyshire limestone, retaining traces of the original red paper linings to the under side.

Condition:
Some minor chips to the edges of the plinth base, otherwise in exceptionally good overall original condition.
