A Rare Pair of early 18th Century Pewter Candlesticks
ENGLAND, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
Each with baluster stem raised on a domed foot, one with ‘X’ mark and traces of touchmark to foot, probably George Lowes, Newcastle, (w.1725-1765), (PS 5974, OP 3001), both with ownership initials ‘E.F’ to the underside, each with Cotterell ‘Guarantee Label’ to underside, together with original certificate, nos. 1144/1145

Provenance: Purchased directly from Howard Cotterell, 9th August 1930
This style of candlestick is only known to have been made by two Newcastle pewterers – George Lowes and Robert Sadler.
