Candlesticks such as these were made from thin rolled brass hammered from the reverse side to create decoration in relief. Examples of this form from Sweden and Denmark are illustrated in Schiffer, The Brass Book, (Schiffer Publishing, 1978) p. 164 pl. A, B, C and another pair can be found in the National Trust Collections at East Riddlesden Hall, West Yorkshire (NT 201377.1).
