The stem with a shaped carrying handle to the top and with an adjustable boss supporting the extending arms, each comprised of five riveted s-shaped scrolls, terminating in a cylindrical socket with a 10cm diameter dish pan with engraved line decoration; on a domed, circular base with line decoration.

A candelabrum of similar form with four arms is illustrated in Gentle and Feild, 'Domestic Metalwork 1640-1820' (Antique Collectors' Club, 1994), p. 116 pl. 8 and it is suggested that the functional design of such a candelbrum meant that it was used in the office or library, rather than the drawing room.
