The tongs comprised of chamfered sections riveted together, with scissor-like motion extending from 11cm to 50cm. The grips both punched with triangular marks and with the number '16'.
'Lazy tongs' were named as such because they extend and retract and meant that the user did not have to bend or stretch when using them.
