The low folding chair with a carved foliate scroll crest rail carved with the words ‘GUICOWAR HIWALEE’, above a shaped splat with three foliate carved roundels and a horizontal foliate carved mid rail; the seat with a padded cushion over four legs with animal paw feet.

The Guicowar or Gaekwar dynasty in Baroda, Western India began with Maratha General Pilaji Rao Gaekwad when he conquered Songadh from the Mughals in 1726. They ruled the region until 1947.
