The octagonal oak top with parquetry blocks pattern and decorative stringing to the edges. The drum top contains one panel opened with a lockable catch on the underside of the top to reveal piano style keys which, when depressed, each open a corresponding drawer. On a central, triangular-form pillar and triform base with patchwork parquetry and reeded scrolled feet with decorative roundels. The secret panel has a brass lock stamped 'GR' below a crown indicating that the lock was manufactured during the reign of King George III, 1760-1820 or King George IV, 1820-1830.
